Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join our busy accounts team, in Central London, preparing management accounts, servicing the financial information needs of colleagues around the business, processing Sales, Purchases, Banking, Payroll and other transactions.

Key duties include

  • Assisting with the preparation of weekly payment runs,
  • Preparing the monthly payroll report for the external payroll provider,
  • Reviewing the payroll outputs and preparing the net pay run,
  • Providing financial information and analysis to the rest of the business,
  • Operating and ensuring adherence to the financial controls of the business,
  • Reconciling ledger accounts and maintaining account balances,
  • Recording transactions in the accounting software,
  • Assisting with the preparation of Management Accounts,

About you

  • Payroll & PAYE Journals experience,
  • VAT compliance,
  • Excel Pivot Tables, v-lookups and beyond,
  • Experience of being audited,
  • Familiarity with major internal controls, procedures and policies,
  • Purchase ledger, posting invoices, payments and preparing reconciliations,
  • Posting Bank transactions and reconciling the bank accounts,
  • General Ledger journals incl. prepayments & accruals,
  • Maintaining Balance Sheet balances,
  • Experience of analysing and handling high volumes of transactions,
  • Preparing and formatting ad hoc reports and analysis on request,
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal,
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel,
  • Proficient at Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint,
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and support other areas,

  • Experience of Qube Accounting Software / Aareon


  • AAT qualified or
  • Part-qualified CIMA / ACCA or equivalent
